Parents play a powerful role in a child’s academic journey. Whether your child is just starting school or preparing for exams, your encouragement, structure, and interest can make a lasting difference. Here are ten ways to stay involved and help them thrive:

Tips: Create a Routine – Set a consistent time and space for homework and study.

  1. Stay Positive About Learning – Speak well of school, teachers, and education in general.
  2. Monitor Screen Time – Balance fun and study by managing time spent on TV, phones, and gaming.
  3. Encourage Reading Daily – Reading builds vocabulary, focus, and imagination.
  4. Ask Specific Questions – Instead of "How was school?" try "What did you learn in math today?"
  5. Attend School Events – Show up for PTA meetings, open houses, or sports days.
  6. Praise Effort, Not Just Results – Celebrate hard work and persistence as much as good grades.
  7. Promote Independence – Let children take responsibility for their school tasks.
  8. Communicate With Teachers – Build a relationship with educators to stay updated.
  9. Model Learning at Home – Let your child see you read, solve problems, or talk about your own learning.
