17 Children to Undergo Life-Saving Heart Surgeries in Guyana

Today, I hosted at State House the parents of children who will soon undergo life-saving heart surgeries right here in Guyana.

Our Government has engaged Apollo Health Systems of India to conduct 17 surgeries for children with congenital heart defects between September 28 and October 2.

Approximately 40 children are currently awaiting specialised congenital heart surgery. Following this five-day mission, we will facilitate another mission in December, during which 10 additional children will benefit from surgery.

We are putting all systems in place to address the remaining cases by the first quarter of 2027.

Our Government will also provide transportation for all of the children and accommodation for those travelling from outside Georgetown during the upcoming mission.
