57 Over Age 52 receive Duty Free concessions

October 11, 2024 – In a significant step towards honoring a promise made by President Irfaan Ali in 2023, the Government of Guyana has fulfilled its commitment to provide every teacher over the age of 52 with a duty-free concession. This landmark initiative ensures that 57 teachers in this age group are now able to enjoy their non-salaried benefits before retirement.

This move reflects the government's continued dedication to improving the welfare of its educators. By fulfilling this commitment, the government ensures that teachers, who have given decades of service to the nation, receive meaningful benefits as they near the end of their professional careers.

The Ministry of Education remains dedicated to ensuring that the teaching profession receives the recognition and support it deserves, furthering its goal of creating an environment where educators can thrive and contribute to national development.

Please find the duty free concession list for educators 52 years and older, below.
