Little Supriya Khan was a bright, bubbly and well-loved pupil of the Parika Back Primary School. She died on Friday afternoon following an accident on the Parika main road.
Her father, 32-year-old Imran Khan, had just picked her up from school, but before they could reach home, their electronic bike was hit by an overtaking motor car.
Supriya succumbed to her injuries, while her father remains hospitalized, unaware that his baby girl has died.
"The doctors told us not to tell him, because of the condition he is in. He thinks that she is home and she is okay," a tearful Ramona Rackbar told Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, this morning.
The young mother is still coming to grips with her new reality — a life without her daughter, and one where her five-year-old son will have to grow up without his big sister.
Minister Parag expressed her sincerest condolences to the family, assuring them that the entire government, and especially the Ministry of Education, has them in our prayers.
"The pain you're feeling is unimaginable, but you have our love and our support. You and your family are not alone," Minister Parag assured the grieving woman.
Also accompanying Minister Parag to offer condolences was Mr. Saddam Hussain, Chief Education Officer, who assured the family that the Ministry will remain in touch to provide ongoing support.
