A vibrant start to the TVET Expo and Fair 2026!

The Ministry of Education officially opened the TVET Expo and Fair 2026 today at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre under the theme, “From Classroom to Career: TVET in Action.”

More than 50 schools and organisations are participating in the three-day Expo, showcasing programmes, student projects, skills and practical demonstrations across several areas of Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

Delivering the feature address, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, highlighted the importance of technical education to the development of Guyana.

She said, “Technical education is not a lesser form of education. It is rigorous, it is valuable, and it is essential.”

Day One also featured the Junior Duelling Chef Competition, where participants prepared a local or national dish with a twist.

Attending the Opening Ceremony were Chief Planning Officer and Parliamentary Secretary, Mrs. Mishka White-Griffith; Deputy Chief Education Officer (Technical), Dr. Ritesh Tularam; Assistant Chief Education Officer (Technical), Mrs. Marcia Paddy-Andrews; Superintendent of Examinations, Mrs. Sauda Kadir-Grant; Head of Distance Education, Mr. Philip Williams; along with students, educators, industry partners and other stakeholders.
