CAPE 2025: Guyana Secures 32 Places on the CXC Regional Merit List Across 14 Subject Units

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has released the 2025 Regional Merit List for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE). The Merit List recognises the ten highest-performing candidates across the Caribbean region in each Unit offered at CAPE, honouring exceptional academic and technical achievement.

For the 2025 examination cycle, students from Guyana secured 32 Regional Merit placements across 14 subject units, reflecting strong performance in science, technology, engineering, business, modern creative disciplines and the humanities.

Guyana earned Regional Merit placements in the following CAPE Units: Agricultural Science Units 1 and 2, Animation and Game Design Units 1 and 2, Economics Unit 2, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology Unit 2, Green Engineering Units 1 and 2, Information Technology Unit 2, Integrated Mathematics, Law Unit 2, Logistics and Supply Chain Operations Unit 1, Performing Arts (Cinematic Arts) Unit 2 and Physics Unit 2.

In addition, Guyana secured the Best Overall CAPE Performer in the Caribbean, with Sara Khan of Queen’s College being recognised as the region’s top candidate. This achievement demonstrates the consistent effort and discipline of our students at the highest level of regional academic assessment.

The Ministry of Education extends congratulations to every student whose name appears on the CAPE Regional Merit List. The Ministry also recognises the sustained support of teachers, parents, guardians and school leadership throughout the country, whose guidance and encouragement contributed to this performance. These accomplishments stand as encouragement to students across Guyana as they continue to pursue academic excellence and personal growth.
