Graduates’ Spotlight

Nayotta Marco & Alex Mendonca

“Our Journey”

When Nayotta and Alex began their journey at the Cyril Potter College of Education in Turkeyen, they knew it would not be easy, but they also knew it would be worth every step.

Leaving home meant leaving behind their 11-month-old son — the little boy who means the world to them. It was a heartbreaking decision, one that tested their strength as parents. With heavy hearts, they entrusted him to the loving care of Alex’s mother, knowing that this sacrifice was not only for themselves, but for him — for his future and the better life they dreamed of building for him.

College life was a mix of joy and struggle. Some days were bright and full of laughter; others were filled with worry and longing. There were nights when they lay awake thinking about their son, wondering if he was okay, wishing they could hold him close, even for a moment. Their hearts were always divided — part focused on their studies, and the other part with their child back home.

Yet through it all, they stood together. They reminded each other of their purpose, lifted one another when the weight of sacrifice felt heavy, and celebrated each small victory along the way. Through tears and laughter, they learned patience, resilience, and the true meaning of teamwork and love.

Their time at CPCE became more than an academic pursuit — it became a journey of faith, growth, and transformation. They came to understand that being there was not just about earning a certificate, but about preparing themselves to give back to their community and to every child who will one day sit in their classrooms.

Looking back, Nayotta and Alex are proud of how far they’ve come. Their journey was not easy, but it was filled with purpose, perseverance, and love. They’ve learned that true growth often comes from sacrifice — and that when love leads the way, no challenge is too great.

As they graduate, they carry their son in their hearts, knowing that everything they have done has been for him. Their story is one of love, faith, and determination — a reminder that even the toughest roads can lead to the most beautiful destinations.
