Education Minister Engages Global Leaders on Education Financing at UN General Assembly

Minister of Education, the Hon. Sonia Parag, today joined the leadership of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and Education Ministers from around the world at the high-level meeting “Multiply Possibility: A New Era for Education Financing” at United Nations Headquarters in New York. She was accompanied by the Ministry’s Chief Planning Officer, Mrs. Mischka White-Griffith.

Held during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, the meeting was co-hosted by the Permanent Missions of Italy and Nigeria to the United Nations and GPE. It brought together global leaders and development partners to strengthen commitments to sustainable education financing and quality education for all children.

Discussions focused on mobilising international support alongside countries’ own investments in education to expand access and improve learning. Guyana’s participation reflects the Government’s continued commitment to investing in education and creating opportunities for children across the country.
