Education Minister Highlights Youth-Led Peace Education at UN General Assembly

Minister of Education, the Hon. Sonia Parag, today participated as a speaker in “Peace Education in Action: Youth-led Learning for a Peaceful and Inclusive World,” hosted by World Scouting and Interpeace in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. She was joined by the Ministry’s Chief Planning Officer, Mrs. Mischka White-Griffith.

The interactive discussion examined how formal and non-formal education, relationships and the environments in which young people grow up shape their understanding of peace, conflict and identity. It also explored how young people can take an active role in building more peaceful and inclusive communities.

The engagement speaks to the importance of education in nurturing respect, understanding and belonging, alongside academic achievement, and preparing students to contribute positively to society.
