Today, Minister of Education, Dr. the Hon. Nicolette Henry was paid a courtesy call by Dr. Martin Odiit, UNAIDS Country Director for Guyana and Suriname and the newly appointed UNAIDS Country Director for Guyana and Suriname, Dr. Michael Gboun.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce Dr. Gboun to Minister Henry since he will be replacing Dr. Odiit who is being rotated to Zimbabwe.

Among the issues of mutual interest that were discussed included the Health and Family Life Programme within the public school system.

Dr. Odiit commended Minister Henry for the work being done by her Ministry in the area of Health and Family Life Education. He said that the programme has made considerable progress over the years.

Minister Henry noted that efforts will be made to further boost the programme within schools across Guyana so that it can have a broader reach with more positive outcomes.
