This week on SOURCES with Svetlana Marshall, the focus is on Guyana’s education sector; a critical part of the country’s development.

In 2025, education received its largest budget to date $175 billion. That investment supported school construction, free textbooks, smart classrooms, and improved pay and support for teachers.

Still, challenges remain. Learning gaps between coastal and hinterland regions persist. Special needs education is expanding, but more work is needed. And concerns continue around examinations, student outcomes, and how well the system is preparing learners for a changing economy.

Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, joins the programme to discuss both the progress and the ongoing concerns.
