The Ministry of Education (MoE) is working collaboratively with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to ensure that its school feeding programme benefits children in a tangible way.
Today, FAO Representative Reuben Robinson and other officials of that organization paid a courtesy call on Minister of Education Dr. the Hon. Nicolette Henry, MP.
During that interface, the officials discussed how the school feeding programme can be more nutritious and at the same time engaging farmers in the communities to supply produce.
Minister Of Education Dr Henry believes that such an approach will create job opportunities for communities. Additionally, the Education Minister posited that in time crop cultivation can increase significantly in these communities.
Mr Robinson said that he was particularly impressed with this model the MoE intends to adopt in its school feeding programme.
