Fourth AutoCAD School Lab Commissioned

The Ministry of Education today commissioned a state-of-the-art AutoCAD Laboratory at Hope Secondary School on the East Coast of Demerara, where students will use computer-aided design software to create detailed 2D and 3D digital drawings.

The new facility is part of an $85 million effort to establish specialised computer laboratories for Industrial Technology at six secondary schools. The initiative transitions students from traditional manual technical drawing to 3D digital design, equipping them with practical skills for careers in fields such as architecture, engineering and construction.

Deputy Chief Education Officer (TVET), Dr Ritesh Tularam, delivered remarks on behalf of the Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education.

“This facility represents the Ministry of Education’s commitment to equipping students with modern digital skills that prepare them for success in an increasingly technology-driven world,” Dr Tularam said.

He added, “As the country continues to expand in sectors such as infrastructure, housing, energy and manufacturing, the demand for digitally skilled and technically competent professionals will continue to grow.”

Hope Secondary School and North Ruimveldt Secondary School were both commissioned today, joining Abram Zuil Secondary School and Bygeval Secondary School, which were commissioned previously.

The remaining two facilities under the initiative are scheduled to be commissioned next, with New Amsterdam Multilateral School slated tomorrow and Zeeburg Secondary School on Wednesday.
