Impromptu Checks Continue To Ensure Quality School Breakfasts
As part of ongoing oversight for the National Breakfast Programme, senior officers from the Ministry of Education continue to make impromptu visits to schools to taste-test, observe, and inspect the food and beverages being supplied to our children.
Any supplier whose meals are not up to standard will be dealt with strictly.
This morning, Deputy Chief Education Officer – Administration, Ms. Tiffany Harvey, conducted an impromptu visit to Friendship Primary School, East Coast Demerara.
In keeping with the approved menu, the supplier was serving cheese flap and juice.
Ms. Harvey’s checks reported the following:
● Packaging ✅
● Menu Compliance ✅
● Quality of Meals ✅
Additionally, a recommendation was made to the school to establish a properly organised area for the daily storage of breakfast items prior to distribution to pupils, to further strengthen safety, hygiene, and efficiency in the programme.
Our children deserve only the best, and the responsibility is on all of us to ensure they receive just that.
If you notice suppliers are not delivering as they should, be diligent and report it to us: 707-1199.
