In solidarity with the nation's teachers

While presenting steelpans to the Mackenzie High School this morning, Minister of Education, Dr. The Hon. Nicolette Henry noted that the handing over of the items is happening at a time when people in the education sector need to show more love for teachers.

Referencing the recent incident where a teacher was attacked by a parent, Minister Henry said that Guyanese need to show love and inculcate the softer skills.

She said that the Ministry of Education's vision speaks to eliminating illiteracy, enhancing tolerance and modernizing Education.

She assured the school that the Government of Guyana cares about teachers since they are the mainstay of the education sector.

Minister Henry made the commitment that the Government will be working to ensure that schools remain safe spaces not just for students but also for teachers.
