Six-hitting and wicket-shattering players might usually be the stars of the Caribbean Premier League, but this year, a 10-year-old Guyanese cricket fan has captured the spotlight too.
Samaira Balram, a pupil of the Providence Primary School, who is preparing to take the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) in a few months, took social media by storm following an interview for the News Room’s CPL Sport Chat.
It was evident passion for the game and her sharp tongue that won hearts as the Guyana Amazon Warriors played their final home game this year, going up against their arch-rivals, the Trinbago Knight Riders.
This week, the News Room sat down with young Samaira and learnt more about her passion for cricket, her aspirations, and how she is capitalising on her recent social media fame.
