Message of the Minister of Education on National Education Day 2018

Education Month 2018 is being observed with lots of learning opportunities. The theme for this year is “Education for a Good Life-Through Innovation & STEAMS”.

STEAMS meaning, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Agriculture, Mathematics and Spirituality & Physical Education (Sport).

Over the past year the ministry and education departments across all levels of the education sector, have created and implemented numerous policies, interventions, training programmes and initiatives to rebuild the education sector with a key focus on reducing the disparity between hinterland and rural areas with the coastal regions.

As we all can agree, the further advancement of Guyana will depend on the nurturing of people with high quality and a diverse range of talents. To this end, we must have high quality education which in turn depends on policy makers, administrators, teachers and educators of high calibre and professionalism.

On this auspicious day we recognise and celebrate our students. We pay tribute to them across Guyana. These future leaders have worked hard to absorb their lessons with renewed enthusiasm and tangible results.

Our students have progressively push their grades higher getting closer to their goals every year.

Our students are the problem solvers of the future and the algorithms of Guyana’s prosperity.
