Min. Parag leads infrastructural assessment of UG’s Turkeyen Campus

Today, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, led a comprehensive inspection of the University of Guyana’s Turkeyen Campus.

The team, comprising permanent secretaries and technical officers from various ministries and agencies, visited classrooms, lecture theatres, washrooms, the library and other key areas of the campus to assess the facility’s infrastructural needs and identify areas requiring attention and improvement.

The inspection follows an initiative by His Excellency President Irfaan Ali to enhance the physical infrastructure and learning environment at the university.

The exercise was aimed at identifying and addressing the necessary infrastructural works to ensure that the campus is in a state of readiness to effectively accommodate face-to-face classes and provide students and staff with a safe, functional and conducive teaching and learning environment.

Representing the Ministry of Education alongside Minister Parag were Permanent Secretary Ms. Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, Chief Education Officer Mr. Saddam Hussain and Advisor on Tertiary Education Reform Dr Kofi Dalrymple, who is also the Dean of the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
