Minister Manickchand meets with members of National Commission on Disabilities

(July 27, 2022) The Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand on Wednesday afternoon met with some executive members of the National Council on Disabilities (NCD).

The meeting was held in the Ministry of Education’s boardroom.

During the meeting, Minister Manickchand stated that the Ministry has been working to improve the education delivery for students with disabilities. She highlighted that focus is placed on teachers’ training with a curriculum being done for teachers desirous of being trained in special needs education.

National Commission on Disabilities acting Chairperson Ms. Vidushi Persaud McKinnon was joined by Executive Secretary Ms Beverly Kyle, Programme Officer, Ms Sondra Davidson-Low and Commissioner Shelly Wilson.

Also present in the meeting was the ministry’s Chief Planning Officer, Ms Nicola Johnson and National Special Education Needs Officer, Ms Savvi Hopkinson
