Minister Manickchand Visits Remote Kariako

Moments ago, the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, arrived in Kariako, the final village in the Moruca Sub-District along the Barama River, located five hours by boat from Kumaka, Region One.

This marks the first time a Minister of Education has ever visited the remote community. Minister Manickchand’s visit aims to address concerns raised by residents and to oversee the distribution of the Teachers Resources Grant and CSEC Refund. She is joined by Deputy Chief Education Officer responsible for Amerindian and Hinterland Education Development, Mr. Marti DeSouza.
