Earlier today, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, received a courtesy visit from Mr Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The discussion centred on continued partnership for improving global education standards and strengthening international cooperation.

This engagement is particularly significant given Guyana’s current leadership role on the UNESCO Executive Board. By serving on this influential body, Guyana continues to contribute directly to the formulation of international policies and the promotion of inclusive, high-quality educational frameworks that benefit the global community.

Also present at the meeting were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ms Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, and Chief Education Officer, Mr Saddam Hussain.
