Yesterday afternoon, the Honourable Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, welcomed a courtesy call from UNICEF Guyana and Suriname’s ad interim Representative, Ms. Anna Azaryeva Valente, as both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the wellbeing of children across Guyana.

The engagement highlighted key areas of collaboration between the Ministry of Education and UNICEF, with focused discussions on tackling bullying and violence in schools, supporting migrant populations, and strengthening initiatives that promote child rights and holistic development.

Also in attendance were Ms. Misckha White Griffith, Chief Planning Officer; Ms. Jessica Anthony, National Coordinator for Health in Schools; and Ms. Fiona Persaud, Education Specialist, UNICEF Guyana and Suriname.
