Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, just moments ago visited the home of Jerome Bernard, the 31-year-old teacher who lost his life in a tragic accident along the Corentyne Public Road on Friday.
Bernard, a resident of Brighton Village, East Berbice-Corentyne, was the driver of the minibus transporting teachers and students returning from a school sporting event.
Minister Parag and a team from the Ministry of Education visited Bernard’s mother, who remains in a distraught state, having lost her only child. Minister Parag offered her sincerest condolences and support to the grieving family.
The team then moved on to the home of 16-year-old Jodea Seline of Limlair Village, who also died as a result of the accident.
Her 13-year-old sister Jennia Seline remains hospitalized at the No. 75 Regional Hospital, unaware that her older sister has died. Minister Parag also visited Jennia earlier this morning at the hospital.
