Minister Sonia Parag Highlights Saraswati Vidya Niketan as a Beacon of Educational Excellence

(October 13, 2025) - Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, on Sunday attended the 21st Graduation Ceremony of the Saraswati Vidya Niketan (SVN) in Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, on behalf of His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

In her remarks, Minister Parag praised SVN’s longstanding record of academic excellence, noting that the institution has grown from modest beginnings into one of Guyana’s leading schools, recognized for its discipline, quality teaching, and holistic development of students.

She emphasized that the school’s success reflects what can be achieved when educators, parents, and communities work together to provide a balanced and values-based education. Minister Parag commended the institution for preparing students not only for examinations, but for life with character, empathy, and integrity.

Reaffirming Government’s commitment to a world-class and equitable education system, Minister Parag said, “We must ensure that every child in Guyana—regardless of where they live—has access to quality education. Saraswati Vidya Niketan stands as a model of what is possible when excellence is matched with dedication.”

She further underscored the importance of moral and ethical grounding in education, noting that true success lies not only in academic achievement but in the development of values that build strong, compassionate citizens.

Minister Parag congratulated the graduating class of 2025, their teachers, and parents, encouraging students to continue upholding the principles and high standards that define the Saraswati Vidya Niketan legacy.
