Minister Sonia Parag Introduces King Charles III to EMC Foundation’s Environmental Education Initiatives
Against the beautiful backdrop of the Promenade Gardens, the Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, this morning introduced His Majesty King Charles III to the work of the Environmental Management Consultants (EMC) Foundation, as children enjoyed painting and readings of “Arya Takes a Swim” in English and Arawak, with the story also presented in digital format. The activities demonstrated how environmental education can come alive through creativity and stories that honour Guyana’s heritage.

The occasion also offered a meaningful connection to Minister Parag’s meeting with His Majesty at Dumfries House in January 2025, which marked the partnership between The King’s Foundation and Qatar Foundation’s Earthna Center to support sustainable urban development through traditional knowledge in four countries, including Guyana. Through the children’s engagement, His Majesty was able to see how an appreciation for that heritage and the natural world is being nurtured in Guyana’s youngest generation.
