Minister Sonia Parag Welcomes Miss World Guyana 2026 Kelcia Nelson

Yesterday, the Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, welcomed Miss World Guyana 2026, Kelcia Nelson, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Education.
During the meeting, Ms. Nelson shared her journey to becoming Miss World Guyana and highlighted her Beauty With A Purpose initiative, Her First Lesson. The project is dedicated to empowering adolescent girls through mentorship and education, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and life skills to recognise their worth, build healthy relationships and make informed decisions for their future.
Minister Parag commended Ms. Nelson for using her platform to champion the development and wellbeing of young women, noting that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to fostering safe, supportive and empowering environments for Guyana’s children.
The Minister also expressed the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with Ms. Nelson in an appropriate capacity to advance the objectives of Her First Lesson and strengthen efforts to positively impact the nation’s youth.
