The Ministry of Education, through the Office of the Deputy Chief Education Officer - Technical and the Carnegie School of Home Economics, has officially commenced the decentralised delivery of two CVQ programmes at the Beterverwagting Practical Instruction Centre (BVPIC) and the Fellowship Practical Instruction Centre.
This follows the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between the Carnegie School of Home Economics and the two Practical Instruction Centres to facilitate the delivery of Commercial Food Preparation CVQ Level 1 and Garment Making CVQ Level 1. On Monday, students at both BVPIC and Fellowship PIC began classes in the respective programmes, marking the practical implementation of the agreements.
The decentralisation of these programmes forms part of the Ministry of Education’s wider efforts to expand access to quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training across Guyana. By making programmes traditionally offered at the Carnegie School of Home Economics available through Practical Instruction Centres, the Ministry is bringing recognised skills training closer to learners and creating greater opportunities for certification, employment and entrepreneurship.
The initiative also supports the Ministry’s continued focus on quality, relevance and equity in TVET delivery, ensuring that more Guyanese, regardless of where they live, can access the training and skills needed for their personal, professional and economic development.
