Ministry of Education celebrates Diwali, the Festival of Lights 

Today, the Ministry of Education hosted a luminous Diwali celebration in the parking lot of its Lot 21 Brickdam office, bringing together staff from various departments in a vibrant display of unity, culture, and light.

In her feature remarks, the Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, reflected on the deeper meaning of the festival, emphasizing the importance of tolerance, teamwork, and togetherness in advancing Guyana’s education system. She encouraged staff to let the spirit of Diwali inspire them to work collaboratively towards building a brighter, more enlightened Guyana.

Permanent Secretary Ms. Shannielle Hoosein-Outar also shared that Diwali stands as a powerful reminder of the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

Chief Education Officer Mr. Saddam Hussain echoed these sentiments, noting that the festival provides an opportunity to reflect, renew hope, and strengthen unity across the Ministry.

The event was filled with colour, music, joy - and great food - a celebration of light, learning, and togetherness.
