Ministry of Education Mourns the Loss of Three Members of the Education Family

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, and the entire Ministry of Education are deeply heartbroken by the tragic loss of three cherished members of our education family in separate road accidents.

Veteran Graduate Headteacher Ms Sonia Natasha Williams, who gave 33 years of dedicated service to education, 10-year-old pupil Gabriela Rodrigues and 14-year-old Skeldon Line Path Secondary School student Giresh Lautan all lost their lives in recent days.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to their grieving families, loved ones and school communities during this time of profound sorrow. May their souls rest in eternal peace.

We urge all drivers and road users to exercise caution, observe speed limits and remain vigilant on the roads.

We also call on parents and guardians to continually reinforce traffic rules and safety precautions with their children even outside of the school setting to help protect precious lives.
