Ministry of Education Mourns the Passing of Ms. Sharon Chapman

The Ministry of Education joins the education community in mourning the passing of Ms. Sharon Chapman, a dedicated educator whose distinguished career was marked by commitment, leadership and service.

Ms. Chapman taught at Mabura Hill Primary, St. Sidwell’s Primary and St. Agnes Primary before continuing her professional journey at Sophia Primary School, where she was appointed Graduate Senior Mistress in 2018.

Following the headteacher’s retirement in 2025, she assumed leadership of the school, serving in that capacity until August 2026.

She served with distinction and was known as a firm, principled leader who valued discipline, accountability and high standards.

She encouraged excellence in both pupils and staff, guided by a deep sense of responsibility for their growth and success.

Behind her firmness was a compassionate woman who cared deeply for those entrusted to her.

Her contribution to education and the many lives she touched will be remembered with gratitude and admiration.

Beyond her professional life, Ms. Chapman was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her three children and a caring grandmother to her two grandchildren.

The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, pupils and the entire Sophia Primary School community during this difficult time.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
