Following the devastating fire that destroyed several homes on James Street, Albouystown, the Ministry of Education, through the Student Support Unit, has been actively supporting affected children.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, Ms. Onika King, Coordinator of the Unit, and her team, under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Education Officer (School Support Services), provided school supplies to 13 learners from nine families. The remaining 8 learners from three families will receive theirs on Monday, bringing the total to 21 learners from twelve families.

Learners received backpacks, lunch packs, textbooks, uniforms, and other essentials to help them return to school. Beyond physical supplies, the Ministry is also supporting students’ mental and emotional well-being and continues to coordinate with other agencies to ensure holistic care during this difficult time.
