MoE Celebrates International Day of Play
In a vibrant display of creativity, collaboration, and sheer joy, the Ministry of Education marked a milestone with its first-ever International Day of Play, held at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD). This groundbreaking event heralded a new era in educational philosophy, emphasising the importance of play in childhood development and learning.
Underneath a canopy of blue skies, the event kicked off with an opening ceremony that set the tone for a day filled with exploration, imagination, and boundless fun.
The air buzzed with excitement as participants embarked on a journey through a diverse array of play zones, each meticulously crafted to engage, inspire, and ignite the senses.
But the festivities were not confined to the physical realm alone. Inside NCERD's state-of-the-art auditorium, educators, policymakers, and thought leaders gathered to delve into the latest research and best practices surrounding play-based learning.
From the role of play in fostering cognitive development to its impact on social-emotional skills, participants engaged in dynamic conversations aimed at reshaping pedagogical approaches and unlocking the full potential of every child.
The ceremony saw Assistant Chief Education Officer - Nursery, Mr. Devendre Persaud, Director of the University of Guyana Early Childhood Centre of Excellence, Dr. Lidon Lashley and Deputy Permanent Secretary Admin performing duties at UNESCO, Ms. Indranie Ramnarine all making brief remarks.
