July 25, 2024 – The inaugural season of the Guyana Learning Channel’s game show, Brainiacs, culminated in an exhilarating finale at the Arthur Chung Conference Center (ACCC) on July 24, 2024. After nine thrilling episodes, the competition narrowed down to three outstanding finalists: Gianna Bacchus, Najeeb Mohamed, and Yadesh Narine.
The first season of Brainiacs attracted exceptional talent from across Guyana, with eighteen contestants vying for the top prize of $300,000 in cash and rewards. After nine intense episodes, only three contestants remained.
Yadesh Narine of St. Joseph High joined the competition in episode two, triumphing over Malachi Seales to advance. Although he was later defeated by Najeeb Mohamed, Yadesh secured his place in the top three with the third-highest score, amassing 11,400 points.
Najeeb Mohamed from Qayyim Academy made a significant impact from his first appearance in episode three, participating in four episodes and winning three of them. Despite losing to Gianna Bacchus, Najeeb accumulated the highest score in the competition with 25,400 points, securing his spot in the finals.
Gianna Bacchus of St. Joseph High entered the competition in episode six, defeating Najeeb Mohamed and maintaining an undefeated streak. With the second-highest score of 25,200 points, Gianna earned her place in the final episode.
In the final episode, Yadesh, Gianna, and Najeeb began with the points they accumulated throughout the competition. They faced the ultimate test of their knowledge and strategy, risking their points for the chance to emerge as the champion of Brainiacs Season One.
Ultimately, Najeeb Mohamed emerged as the winner, demonstrating remarkable knowledge and strategic skills. His victory marks a significant milestone for the inaugural season of Brainiacs. He won the competition with 88,600 points.
Gianna Bacchus followed up in second place with a total score of 33,800. Yadesh Narine wagered it all in the final round of the competition, however, he was unsuccessful, like Gianna, in his answer, which cost him his entire score. He ended the competition in third place with a total score of zero points.
Najeeb also won the awards for Most Accumulated Score and Highest Accumulated Score (in a single episode). He secured 25,400 and 9,600 points, respectively.
At the end of the competition, Najeeb walked away with a grand cash prize of $200,000. Gianna and Yadesh both received cash prizes of $25,000. Gianna also received the award for Ultimate Survivor. She secured victories in episodes 6, 7, 8, and 9.
