Today, instructors and students of the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) who completed the Basic Industrial Safety Training (BIST) were presented their certificates and cards by Advisor to the Minister of Education, Ms. Africo Selman.
The BIST was coordinated and conducted by LearnCorp International (LCI) out of Canada through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council for Technical Vocation Education and Training (CTVET) under the aegis of Exxon Mobil and its partners CNOOC and Hess.
The MoU between LCI and CTVET facilitated the following:
1. Trainer of Trainers of Staff in welding and electrical
2. Upgrades to welding and electrical department
3. Training of staff in Basic Industrial Safety (BIS) practices
The staff who were trained in BIS practices conducted the BIST to the students and were presented with BIS Practices Certificates while the students were presented with BIST wallet cards. These cards are evidence of the training and safe work practices.
