Yesterday, during the National Consultation on Social Media and its Consequential Effects on Children, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the issue, emphasizing that it must be treated as a national priority given its direct impact on the well-being and development of Guyana’s children.
The consultations, which are being coordinated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, were launched yesterday at the World Trade Center in Kingston, Georgetown.
The forum brought together religious leaders, representatives from civil society, professional organizations, and other key stakeholders to examine the growing influence of social media on children and to formulate practical recommendations aimed at mitigating its adverse effects and addressing emerging challenges.
