NEW AMSTERDAM SECONDARY TO PILOT CUSTOM ATHLETICS MANAGEMENT APP AT ITS 2026 INTER-HOUSE ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP

The New Amsterdam Secondary School is taking an exciting step towards modernising school sports with the introduction of a custom-designed Athletics Management App for its 2026 Inter-House Athletics Championship.

Developed by Mr. Tamesh Mohabir, the app brings athlete registration, event management, results and house standings together in one digital platform. It mirrors key features of the systems used by the Allied Arts Unit and the Athletics Association at the Inter-School and National Athletics Championships.

The app includes:

Secure login access for authorised users.

Athlete registration with automatic age eligibility checks, rejecting entries where an athlete’s date of birth falls outside the stipulated age range.

An automatically updated dashboard, calculating points and updating house standings as results are entered.

Automatic identification of Champion Boys and Girls in each age category, based on recorded results.

Automatically generated event sheets to assist officials in organising and conducting events.

A performance database to record athletes’ best performances and build a lasting school athletics record book.

By reducing paperwork and manual calculations, the app aims to improve accuracy, provide timely results and make the championship easier to manage.

Beyond this year’s competition, it will help preserve our school’s sporting history—ensuring that outstanding performances are recorded, celebrated and remembered by future generations.
