NGSA 2025: Pupils performed better in all subjects

In a noteworthy achievement for Guyana, there was an improvement in children’s performances across all four subject areas tested through the 2025 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

This was announced by CXC’s Director of Operations, Dr. Nicole Manning at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, Liliendaal, on Wednesday.

The improvements are also the best performances in five years, across all subject areas.

For English language, 69.25% of the pupils passed; last year, this was 66.79%.

In Social Studies, there was a 64.7% pass rate compared to 62.88%.

In Science, the pass rate went up from 54% last year to 63.7% this year.

And finally, mathematics- which was described as the “troublesome subject” across the region by Dr. Manning, the pass rate is 55.51%, compared to 40.36% last year.

“This means that we are seeing a shift in the generation,” Dr. Manning said, welcoming the mathematics score.
