Update from Minister Manickchand on Day 1 of NGSA: A total of 15,813 students were registered to sit the exams. So far, data has been received from 99% of schools, showing that 15,497 students turned up—representing a 98% attendance rate, the highest since before COVID-19. Among those sitting the exams were 115 pupils with Special Education Needs (SEND), and for the very first time, 91 pupils wrote the exams in Spanish. Breakfast and lunch were provided to all public school students, while exam kits were distributed to all students across both public and private schools.
