North Ruimveldt Secondary gets Computer-Aided Design Lab

The Ministry of Education this afternoon commissioned a state-of-the-art AutoCAD Laboratory at North Ruimveldt Secondary School, bringing the number of specialised AutoCAD laboratories established under the Ministry’s initiative to five.

The facility will provide students with hands-on training in computer-aided design, allowing them to develop 2D and 3D digital drawings and gain practical skills relevant to fields such as architecture, engineering and construction.

The initiative forms part of an $85 million investment to establish specialised Industrial Technology computer laboratories at six secondary schools across Guyana, transitioning students from traditional technical drawing to modern digital design.

Commissioning the facility, the Honourable Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, said the initiative is about ensuring students are prepared for the opportunities of the future.

“Education must continue to evolve with the times. We want our students to leave school equipped with the practical and digital skills they need to compete and succeed in a changing world,” Minister Parag said.

North Ruimveldt Secondary School now joins Abram Zuil Secondary School, Bygeval Secondary School and Hope Secondary School, which have already received AutoCAD laboratories under the initiative.
