Today the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the National Centre for Education Resource Development (NCERD) facilitated a gender-responsive workshop for Nursery school Headteachers of Region four (4).

The objective of the workshop, according to Dana Waithe Nursery Officer (NCERD) is to ensure that classroom materials appeal to both boys and girls since it was noticed that materials cater for girls primarily.

The officer explained that this initiative forms part of the MoE's efforts to address the issue of boys underperformance.

Additionally, Ms Waithe explained that upon the completion of the workshop HMs' will have the opportunity to fashion their play corners in their schools for both boys and girls.

Headteachers of the other regions are slated to be exposed to the workshop in the coming days.
