Today, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, led an orientation session for approximately 20 first-year engineering students from Berbice. The students will now be able to continue their studies at the John’s Science Centre—an extension of the University of Guyana’s Berbice Campus—instead of traveling to the University’s Turkeyen Campus.
Yesterday, a similar exercise was conducted at the Essequibo Technical Institute where additional seats were made available for engineering students in Region Two.
President Irfaan Ali has committed to continuing the decentralization of academic opportunities all across Guyana.
Another win for inclusivity and access to education.
Minister Parag was also joined by the Region Six Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud, and a team from the University of Guyana, led by Dr. Kofi Dalrymple, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
