PHOTOS: World Environmental Day | The Quest for Guyana's Youth Environmental Speaker. Gabriella Arjun, a student from Queen's College, has been honored as Guyana's 2024 Youth Environmental Speaker. Demonstrating exceptional knowledge and passion for environmental issues,
Gabriella emerged victorious in a competitive field. Close contenders included Samarah Nazamodeen of President's College, who secured second place, and Tramaine Clarke of Marian Academy, who earned third place.
The SHOUT initiative, which seeks to engage and inspire young minds about environmental conservation, consisted of several rigorous phases. The second phase saw the top 30 schools across Guyana delivering prepared speeches on critical environmental topics. This was followed by an engaging impromptu speech competition in the third phase, which featured the top 10 schools showcasing their ability to think and speak on their feet.
The final phase was a crucial and exciting stage where the top 3 schools, based on their performances in the earlier rounds, competed in a final challenge to determine the ultimate winners. This comprehensive approach ensured that only the most knowledgeable and articulate students were recognized.
The SHOUT initiative is a project by Recover Guyana in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
