Preserving our Indigenous Languages

The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, is advancing efforts to preserve, protect, and promote Guyana’s Indigenous languages as an integral part of the nation’s cultural heritage.

During the recent Heritage Month celebrations in Bumbury, Region One, Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, emphasised the strong connection between education and culture.

The Ministries are working together to ensure that Indigenous languages and cultural knowledge are preserved and passed on to future generations, strengthening cultural identity and further enriching Guyana’s education system.
