His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, today officially commissioned the Yas School of Inspiration at Crane on the West Coast of Demerara, marking another significant milestone in the country’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education.

The facility was commissioned alongside Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, who represents His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, underscoring the strong partnership between the Government of Guyana, the Office of the First Lady and the Government of the United Arab Emirates in advancing education for all.

The Yas School of Inspiration is Guyana’s 49th recognised SEND space, catering to children between the ages of 3 and 7, including learners with autism and intellectual disabilities. The 3,700-square-foot facility was constructed by the Government of Guyana, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady and the Government of the United Arab Emirates, and is designed to accommodate approximately 50 children. Each classroom will be managed by a trained teacher supported by two teaching assistants, ensuring tailored instruction and maximum support. Transportation will also be provided for students to and from the school.
