PRESS RELEASE :Students put marketing skills to the test at TVET Expo 2026 Marketing Showdown

September 17, 2026 - Students from secondary schools across Guyana put their creativity, communication and entrepreneurial skills on display during the Marketing Showdown, one of the exciting activities featured as part of the Ministry of Education’s TVET Expo 2026, being held under the theme “From Classroom to Career: TVET in Action!”

The Marketing Showdown provided students with an opportunity to take their learning beyond theory and demonstrate practical marketing skills through the promotion of innovative products and business ideas. Working individually and in teams, the students were challenged to develop and present compelling marketing concepts while showcasing their creativity, teamwork and entrepreneurial thinking.

In the Team Category, the results were:

First Place:

Aurora Secondary – Golden Crust Cheesecake

Team members: Kaylee Fowler, Kimberly Brown, Chandini Dhanra, Christopher Roberts and Devine Haninichal.

Second Place:

Bygeval Secondary – Bygeval Sweet Pepper Salsas and Sauces

Team member: Ulanda Dos Santos Tr.

Third Place:

Aurora Secondary – Crispy Bites Plantain Chips

Team members: Ariana Belfield, Rehanna Basdeo, Joanna Deonarine, Jignesh Persaud and Suraj Niranjan.

The Individual Category also showcased the entrepreneurial creativity of students, with:

First Place:

Cummings Lodge Secondary – Glow-up Press-Ons

Second Place:

Cummings Lodge Secondary – Baked by EBS

Nia Stanley

Third Place:

Buxton Secondary – The Exquisite Lash Bar

Jamacia Layne

All participating students were recognised for their efforts and received Certificates of Participation, celebrating their willingness to step forward, apply their skills and engage in a practical learning experience.

Through activities such as these, the TVET Expo continues to demonstrate that technical and vocational education is not simply about acquiring a qualification, it is about building confidence, creativity and practical skills that can take students from the classroom into the world of work.
