Region Five Secondary Schools Receive Music and Sports Equipment

The Ministry of Education, through its Allied Arts Department, recently donated musical instruments, sporting gear, and athletics equipment to all nine secondary schools in Region Five.

As part of the donation, the schools received a complete steel pan band along with a drum set, while all nine schools also benefited from items such as volleyballs, basketballs, footballs, cricket gear, guitars, and keyboards.

The Regional Education Department also received athletics equipment, including javelins, discus sets, and measuring tapes, to support the Inter-Schools Athletics Championships.

The beneficiary schools are Woodley Park Secondary School, Rosignol Secondary, Fort Wellington Secondary, Mahaicony Secondary, Bush Lot Secondary, Novar Secondary, Belladrum Secondary, No. 8 Secondary, and Bygeval Secondary.

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, noted that investments of this nature are critical to ensuring students are given every opportunity to discover and develop their talents.

“Education is not limited to what happens inside the classroom. When we invest in music, sport and the arts, we are helping our children to become more confident, disciplined and well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to their schools, communities and country.”

This donation reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to developing learners who can excel in the classroom, on the field, and on the stage.
