Region Four Heads of Schools Meeting Strengthens School Leadership

The Ministry of Education today hosted the first Region Four Heads of Schools Meeting for the 2026–2027 academic year, bringing together head teachers from nursery, primary and secondary schools, Practical Instruction Centres and special education institutions across the East Coast and East Bank of Demerara.

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, addressed the meeting and reminded head teachers of the importance of strong leadership in effectively managing their schools.

She encouraged them to lead with purpose, accountability and a clear focus on supporting teachers and improving student outcomes.

The monthly meeting also provided an opportunity to reinforce key policies, management practices and expectations for school leaders, particularly those recently promoted into leadership positions.

Through these engagements, the Ministry continues to strengthen school management and equip head teachers to create environments where students can learn, develop and succeed.
