Rehabilitation Works Completed at Mackenzie High School

September 26, 2026 — Just two weeks after the Honourable Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, visited Mackenzie High School, rehabilitation works at the institution have been completed.

The completed works form part of the Ministry of Education’s continued efforts to improve the physical environments in which students learn and teachers work, while ensuring that educational spaces are safe, functional and conducive to learning.

During her recent visit, Minister Parag inspected the facilities and engaged with contractors regarding the needs identified at the school. She instructed that the necessary rehabilitation works be completed within a strict two-week period.

Following the visit, rehabilitation works were undertaken at the Linden Concert Hall and School (LCHAS), which accommodates approximately 300 Grade 7 and Grade 8 students.

The works included the replacement of the roof and ceiling at the Linden Concert Hall and School, electrical upgrades, and repainting of the walls. Fans were also installed in the classrooms to improve ventilation and the overall learning environment for students and teachers.

The completion of the works within the stipulated timeframe reflects the Ministry’s continued focus on responding to identified needs and delivering tangible improvements to Guyana’s education infrastructure.
