“In a world where the sky is often mistaken for a limit, let us remember that the stars, they do not heed such boundaries. They shine forth, undeterred by the darkness, a testament to the boundless potential within each of us.” – Anonymous.
Shannielle Hoosein Outar, the illustrious Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, traces her journey back to the peaceful embrace of Leonora, a village nestled amidst nature’s grandeur on the West Coast of Demerara. In this haven, Shannielle, one of two cherished daughters, was nurtured in an environment where her father’s words echoed in her heart, urging her to reach beyond the ordinary.
With unwavering determination, Shannielle pursued her education at the esteemed University of Guyana, guided by the wisdom instilled by her parents. Amidst the rustle of leaves and the whispers of the wind, her mother’s voice remained a beacon of encouragement reminding her of the transformative power of knowledge.

As she reflected on her journey, Shannielle spoke of the intricate tapestry of responsibilities that weave through the fabric of a woman’s life. Acknowledging that there is still more effort to be placed on her behalf in better balancing work and family time, Shannielle believes that her hard work and achievements will serve as an inspiration to her two daughters, teaching them to never limit themselves because they are women. Furthermore, she finds solace in the enduring support of her husband, sister, brother-in-law and the encouragement of her friends. She also speaks fondly of the memories of her father, who, prior to his passing, would lovingly with her mom, tend to her children, ensuring they experience the serene upbringing of Leonora.
“Never limit yourself, always do your best. Shatter the ceilings and aim for the stars.”
