Students and teachers tour Prime Minister’s Residence – exhibitions hosted in observance of 52nd Independence Anniversary

Wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo today hosted tours at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence, Main Street, Georgetown for students of the Kingston Secondary and the North Ruimveldt Multilateral schools.

Mrs. Nagamootoo said the Residence was opened up for these exhibitions in observance of Guyana’s 52nd Independence Anniversary.

As one of the heritage buildings, Mrs. Nagamootoo said the Residence, which is over 150 years old holds tremendous historical significance and she saw it fit that students got the opportunity to visit the home and learn about its history.

During the tour, Mrs. Nagamootoo, who is a former teacher took the opportunity to encourage the students, most of whom were fourth formers to study hard and work towards achieving their life goals.

Educational pamphlets and other memorabilia were handed out to the students and teachers of the two schools.

Posters showcasing Guyana’s Independence history and a short video on the residence were showcased.

Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, who is performing the duties of the President spent a few minutes interacting with the students of the Kingston Secondary during their tour.

Several other tours are planned throughout this week.
